Stretching from Hay-on-Wye in the east to Llandeilo in the west and includes four ranges of mountains; the Black Mountains, the Central Beacons, Fforest Fawr and the Black Mountain(Mynydd Du). The area offers a whole range of activities to suit all age groups but we have so much more here. Discover our history by visiting the many castles and churches in the area, we even have our own cathedral in Brecon. There are many interesting attractions including the National showcaves for Wales, a Mountain railway, museums and indoor activity centres. The area is well known for walking and outdoor activities there are over 2000 miles of public footpaths in the area with a range of difficult highland paths or the gentle slopes. The long distance Taff trail or Beacons Way footpaths are ideal way to discover the area if you have a few days to spare. A holiday would not be complete without good quality food, the Brecon Beacons has a range of wonderful restaurants working on the Slow Food principle using local ingredients and traditional methods of cooking.
